Charity concerts to save the music archive in Kroměříž

In 2019 we organized five charity concerts in the Kromeriz chateau, the proceeds of which go towards the restoration of rare manuscripts from the chateau music archive.

The programmes of the concerts were very varied this year. We welcomed the 100-member London School Symphony Orchestra from Great Britain, Spiritual Quintet, lute ensemble Bohemian Lute Orchestra, Opus Two Duo with Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, and harpsichordist Barbara Maria Williza.

The profit from this year‘s concerts reached CZK 40 382/EUR 1582 which will be used to restore the manuscripts of Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. According to Kateřina Fajtlová, the curator of the Music Archive, these manuscripts, like other such rare documents are endangered by acidity and require the use of special conservation methods.

Previous charity concerts organised by CNT raised funds to restore the sonata Violino Solo by Georg Muffat (1653–1704), whose manuscript in Kroměříž is the only one in the world.
