Modification of the forecourt of the Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach Memorial in Zdislavice gets a go-ahead!

The new space will offer multifunctional utilisation of the site and the construction of a category C tourist information centre as well as additional facilities for the needs of volunteers, the park, the tomb and the chapel of Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach in Zdislavice. It will also serve the municipality when hosting presentations, exhibitions, smaller cultural or community events with the possibility of using the adjacent garden. The educational component of this concept will provide information about the municipality, the chateau, the tomb and the legacy of Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach for schools from the whole region. In this context, the greenhouse will serve during the season as a information centre and also as a base for the Czech National Trust volunteers.

For the Czech National Trust, as a non-profit organisation, involvement of the local community is a cornerstone for the development and sustainability of the site. After discussions with the municipality leadership and in particular with the neighbours, this approach was welcomed by all parties. Given the financial capacity of both the municipality and the Czech National Trust, it is necessary to find a multi-purpose system for the operation of this facility in order to sustain its viability in the long term. This centre can become a regional hub for the coordination of the legacy of Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach and can draw funds from national and European sources for a facility that the municipality alone would not be able to fund.

Work will begin in spring 2025. The total estimated cost of the project is CZK 4-5 million – you can contribute to the project with your donation towards its successful completion to a special account at ČSOB number 280495377/0300!
